Our story

Surf FM was started some 18 years ago by Mr.Pongsawatch Charoennithithat with a vision to provide local information and music for expat residents and visitors to the resort town of Hua Hin.

The radio station went through a period of good times and showed there was demand for a radio service, however the good times were not sustainable with little interest from listeners and local advertisers, technically the signal was not sufficient and audio quality was far from ideal.

In 2015 Surf FM re branded as Surf 102.5 with expertise from HotSpot Media Co Ltd in Hua Hin. Work was carried out on the antenna system to improve reception. The studio was re built and moved to a larger room, a professional broadcast playout system was introduced. New jingles and a professional music format were introduced designed to appeal to the Thai and International community.

The BBC provides International news every hour, we also produce a local news bulletin broadcast on the half hour.
Within a few months Steve Johnston brought his broadcast experience from Dubai and BFBS to the breakfast show.

Local business started to show interest in Hua Hin's new radio advertising platform, our first advertiser was 31 Burger.
Now, Homeless Furniture,  SPS Spencer's Property Services continue to advertise after almost 3 years.

Today Surf 102.5 is popular with listeners and has a proven track record with local advertisers.

Surf 102.5 is committed to supporting the local community while being good to listen to and attractive as a local advertising platform.

The Marriott Breakfast Show 
The Marriott Hotel Hua Hin sponsors the Marriott Breakfast Show broadcast Monday to Thursday with Andy Curtis.
On Friday the show is broadcast live from the Siam Bakery with Richard & Leigh plus a weekly local guest.

Hua Hin is in a state of growth in terms of tourism, business and residential development, Surf 102.5 also intends to compliment that growth with plans to improve reception in the most populated areas of Hua Hin while providing support for local business and the community.
